Ariel – The Sabertooth Tiger

My second model: A sabertooth, which I got an inspiration from a movie called "10,000 BC", and decided to make a human version out of it.
My initial intention was to make the common reddish-orange furred predator. However, it seems quite old in terms of designing a tiger to have it wear the same skin colour.
Therefore, I made a decision to move to a more relatively rare skin tone tiger with white skin, dark stripes and blue eyes.

The model was sculpted in Zbrush;
Box-modeled, UV mapped, Rigged and Posed in Maya;
Textured and Applied Materials in Substance Painter;
Composited and Colour Graded in After Effects CC;

The composition masked and image exported from Photoshop CC
Hope you enjoy!!!

After Rigging and Posing the creature in Maya, I had a thought of making some compositing to demonstrate it more artistically.
For this particular model, the very first aura came up in my mind was the coldness, and combativeness it characterises, the anger and loneliness it suffers. Hence, I tried experimenting and implementing with snow and cold areas to emphasise the character's situation.
Specifically, I used a background image: https://pixabay.com/photos/wolf-wolves-forest-wintry-1341881/ by Comfreak (April 21, 2016)
and played around with colour value and blending modes to make the tiger stand out from the background and appreciate the contrast it makes for the compositing
***The idea is to grab our attention to the glowing light at the top, then direct them to the sabertooth model. And since it's giving an intensive look at the wolf, our eyes will also be directed there, and lastly, ended up at the background.

A quite simple compositing for the first time. The creature being put quite close to the right hand side of the image, blurry background with nothing fancy but pine trees indicates a chase.
